on’t miss the return of this runaway hit of the DC arts scene that tells a personal, yet universal, story through the lens of Hip-Hop. With her brother “Nick tha 1da” spinning live, the dynamic Paige Hernandez tells her story from pre-conception to present day in a one hour mixed-tape show that is part comedy, part pain, and part retrospective on growing up in Baltimore. Produced by an innovative theater committed to new works by women of color, this popular show will feature some new twists, surprises and bonuses for our festival audiences. Freak Nasty erotic poetry night—Sunday, March 13, 7 pm at South Paw, 125 5th Ave. in Brooklyn (Take any train to Atlantic or Pacific). Spoken word performance—Saturday, March 12, 7-8:30 pm in the Multicultural Student Center, ASUC Building at University of California, Berkeley. Asian American and Asian Diaspora Studies will sponsor a spoken word performance at the Multicultural Student Center as a culminating event for the API Issues Conference. The event will feature spoken word poets Beau Sia, Kelly Tsai, and Bao Phi. Please spread the word and bring your friends! Free.
