Twitter Follower Shout Out: Actor Monk Iyang

The Indiestry
would like to thank those indie artists who are following us on Twitter by randomly shouting an indie artist out. This is a new feature for
The Indie Daily and a win-win situation for us and our supporters. It shows our gratitude, helps promote indie artists—and hopefully increases our followers.

This week’s shoutout goes to Monk Iyang!

Born of Nigerian immigrants, budding actor Monk Iyang is a Newark, New Jersey native. It was there, in a high school drama club meeting, where he caught the acting bug. Since then he has held lead and supporting roles in films and regional theatre.

Monk received Meisner Technique training with David Newer at The William Esper Studio in New York. A writer as well, he has begun to develop production material. His short "No Woman No Cry" was  filmed by up- and-coming director Julius Kelly.

And if writing and acting isn’t enough, Monk is also dabbling in comedy. He is working with emerging standup comedian Anthony Diaz on routines for touring.
