New York


Freak Nasty— Sunday, Nov. 14, doors open at 7 p.m. at Santos Party House (96 Lafayette St, Any train to Canal Stop). Halloween is long over, but the freaks are still out at night! Join Burrowsink as they host the LAST erotic poetry event of the year!

They’ve  got two floors of tingling pleasure for your personal enjoyment. The event will be hosted by comedian Mr. JP. Justice, who is taking time off his tour with the Wayans Brothers to get sinful.  The show will feature burlesque dance, erotic poetry by Ainsley Burrows, S'elah Cox, Soulful Jones, Renair, Mona and many more sexy surprises.  After the show is the after party, they've got DJ Metaphysics on the ones and twos . Barbara Blatner performs—Saturday, Nov. 13, 8 p.m. at Bowery Poetry Club, 308 Bowery (Between Houston and Bleecker); F train to 2nd Ave, 6 to Bleecker)

Blatner  is a playwright, poet and composer from New York. Her verse play, "No Star Shines Sharper," produced in 2003 by Mystic Theatre Company, was published by Baker's Plays (1990), aired repeatedly on National Public Radio stations and acquired by New York's Museum of Television and Radio. Recent readings at the Abingdon Theatre in New York include "Clearing" and "White Ashes." "Grassy Knoll" was produced in New York's Turnip Theatre's Short Play Festival (1997); "Shadow Play" received a workshop production at the Cleveland Public Theatre (1993). Barbara's adaptation of Borowski's "This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen" was commissioned by New Voices and presented at the Boston Public Library (1992). Click here for more information.
