At the age of 16, Youssef and her cousin, Omari“AzIz” Forman-Bey, founded the jazz/hip-hop/funk/ band called Cirius B. This band gained major fan support in Baltimore.
Later, Youssef's many talents catapulted her to success, and she was asked to join the Roots on their world tour.
