Garland Jeffreys & Vertical Horizon's Keith Kane to Perform at SongCircle's 5th Annual "Songwriters Contest" Live Finals 11/18

Garland Jeffreys and 2009 New York Songwriters Circle Grand Prize Winner Reed Waddle will both be taking to the stage at the City Winery (155 Varick St) on Nov.18 when the SongCircle kicks off its fifth annual live "Songwriters Contest" finals(formerly The New York Songwriters' Circle www.songcirclemusic.com).

The SongCircle's contest, a hotbed for discovering aspiring songwriters and artists, has helped launch the careers of previous grand prize winners Kate Voegele (Interscope), Company Of Thieves (Wind-Up/Sony), Mieka Pauley, and Reed Waddle

In 2010, contestants will compete for over $25,000 in cash and prizes for the best original songs which includes a recording, publishing and full label services joint venture agreement with SongCircle Music distributed by EMI, cash awards up to $10,000, a chance to perform on the original Woodstock stage sponsored Bethlewoods Center for the Arts, guitars from Gibson and Martin, studio sessions with a top record producers, and more. The songs will be judged based on structure, melody, lyrics, uniqueness and performance/presentation.
