Carolyn Malachi CD Release party—
Friday, July 30, doors open at 7 pm at U Street Music Hall in Washington, D.C. World grooves by The Pinstriped Rebel. Appearances by DC's Taratibu Youth Association and DJ Heat . Costs $35  (Concert Admission, Complimentary CD, and Entry to Post-Show Private Fête at Social on 14th & Meridian) ; $15 (Concert Admission and Complimentary CD) ; $10 (Concert Admission) .A portion of the proceeds will support the Taratibu Youth Association and BloomBars, two arts non-profits based in Washington, DC. Costs $10 at the door.




Just call me talented open mic—Saturday, July 31, 8-10 pm at The Yabba Pot, 2131 St. Paul Street in Baltimore. Featuring indie singer Ally Way and The Indiestry’s own S. Ann Johnson. Costs $5.
 

Diamond District—Saturday, July 31, 9 pm. Mainstage. The show will also feature The Cornel West Theory, Damu The Fudgemunk, DTMD, plus DJ Underdog and host Grap Luva.The cost is $12. The venue is Black Cat, located at 1811 14th St. NW, Washington, DC 20009.
 

Razzmatazz—
Saturday, July 31, 9:30 pm. The Britpop, garage, and postpunk group will perform at Black Cat. The venue is located at 1811 14th St. NW Washington, DC 20009. The cost is $5.

Together Apart presents SKIN DEEP: A Creative Conversation About The Superficial Side Of Dating & Relationships—
Friday, July 30, 6-10 pm in the Spike Lee Screening Room at Long Island University, 1 University Plaze in Brooklyn. Featuring spoken word poet Sabrina Gilbert. Costs $20 (more at the door).




The Chinese-American Planning Council Walkathon Celebration—Saturday, July 31, 9 am- 3pm at  Columbus Park (Mulberry Btwn Bayard & Mosco). Featuring performances by Kelly Zen-Yie Tsai, Taiyo Na, Mind Of A Monk, and DJ Shakez. FREE.
