When is Deborah Bond dropping a new album!? We got the scoop . . .

“Can’t Stop Thinking About You . . . See You In My Dreams.”
Indie soul music lovers know about Deborah Bond’s 2003 album "DayAfter," produced by Third Logic and featuring the jazzy single “See You in My Dreams.” Well, it’s been 7 years since her debut album and 4 years since the remixed album, "AfterDay." The Indiestry wanted to know what was taking her so long to drop a new album (we’re getting impassionate!), so we simply asked her.
Read on to see what she had to say!
Deborah Bond on the title of the new album . . .
So, the new album . . . I will keep the title under wraps. I will say that our title derives from a perspective place. It’s kind of hard to explain without giving it away. It’s a very quirky name; it’s very different.
Deborah Bond on the process of making her new album . . .
We’ve been working on this album for years. This album has been a good 3, 4 years in the making.
[Creating] this new [album] has been a lot more intense. Third Logic (her producers/musicians) are very meticulous cats, perfectionists type dudes.
It’s been a lot of odd circumstances. We have been in three different studios. We started in one space; it wasn’t quit working. We moved out of that space. We started creating more songs. Found another place. Spend two years there. Got a good chunk of the work done. Now we are in another space for the final few months of getting this wrapped up.
Deborah Bond compares the new album to “DayAfter” . . .
This album is different. For the folks that really digged “DayAfter,” you’re going to hear a signature because it’s myself and the same group of producers. For some reason when the four of us work together there’s definitely a signature sound. So, you’ll hear that sound but it’s going to be a little bit more interesting this time around.
With “DayAfter,” it was a lot more organic. This one is quirky. It’s very artistic.
We wanted you to listen to this album and take it in and then come back to it and find all sorts of things— lots of little tricks and fun little things for the real music heads and for the folks who really pay attention to lyrics and really are deep into music. It’s going to be full of surprises.
I really hope people buy the album and not just get it online. It’s important to see the art and to read the lyrics and discover everything that it has to offer.
Deborah Bond on the tentative release date for her new album . . .
I don’t have it. I do know that I want it to be before the summer ends. I think this album is a summer album. It’s not a winter album, so I’m hoping August.
It’s done. It’s recorded, but the mixing part is what’s becoming a trial. But it’s cool because I know that it has to be done right. And I’d rather it be the music shining its brightest light than to force it to not be what it is.
In the meantime, you can catch Deborah Bond singing background vocals for various artists at the Capital Jazz Fest on June 4-6 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. Bond will also be a part of the Capital Jazz’s SuperCruise IV , as a Underground Lounge performer, along with Friends to The Indiesty Yahzarah and Gordon Chambers!
