Introducing State College lyricist, LV

~post by Annamarie DiRaddo, Indiestry Intern

State College’s busiest lyricist, LV, said he uses his music to empower his fans rather than spread more of the negativity that is typically heard in rap music. Besides promoting music from his four mix tapes, he is working on his album, Tax Refund, with collaborations from various artists and producers. In addition to this, LV is focusing on a few gigs lined up for the end of March and middle of April to take place at the 797 Lounge in State College, Pa.

“Right now, I’m producing more than anyone in the industry,” said LV about his productions of four songs a month and two videos a week. He said it’s a way to keep fans interested, by constantly putting out new things.

LV is part of Amen Shekem Records, which is also run by LV’s biggest fan and supporter, his brother, Avatar Atem Amen. The two of them have been involved with music ever since they were little, as a way to disappear from the problems they were facing.

“Music was the only thing that kept me out of trouble,” LV said. “It was something I could focus on and get my voice out instead of getting stuck.”

LV’s struggle with finances and the “constant grind” to be somebody is heard in his single, "POE (Product of My Environment)." He said this song shows his darker side whereas his other single, "Everyday," is more upbeat and about being successful. Check out these songs below.
