Weekend Hangover (Yele Haiti/MLK Edition)

Dr. Martin Luther King devoted his life to equality and justice for all. He fought-nonviolently—against injustices that included discrimination, prejudice, hunger and homelessness. As you celebrate his legacy this MLK Day (Monday, Jan. 18, 2010), apply his teachings and principles to a pressing need—The Haiti Earthquake Disaster Relief.
On Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010 a magnitude 7 earthquake struck the Port-au-Prince region of Haiti, leaving thousands upon thousands dead, severely injured, hunger starved, and homeless. Rapper Wyclef Jean, who is of Haitian descent, has issued a statement that details ways that YOU can help.
Text “YELE” to 501501 and a $5 donation will be sent to the Yele Haiti earthquake disaster relief fund. Charges will be billed to your monthly telephone payment. Donations have already topped $2 million so KEEP IT GOING!!!
Also, officials would like everyone to make sure that they do not fall victim to Internet donation scams, while offering money to support the rescue efforts in Haiti.
On January 22, MTV will air a benifit called "Hope for Haiti". The two-hour benifit begins at 8 pm.
